Toys

collage.jpg

On Tuesday the whole of the senior side went to Howick Historical Village. Our first activity was learning and playing with toys they made in the olden days. Nearly All of the toys were made out of wood and glass. It was fun learning about them and getting the chance to play with them.

Project on Glen Innes

For our Glen Innes project my group and I made a model. Our question was how has the population of Glen Innes change. I think our group did well on our project and it looks good. Doing this project has helped me understand about the and know about the past and the population in G.I in the past. I really enjoyed doing this and I hope to do it again.

Maths T2W9 - Rhombus

Walt: identify and draw a rhombus

Screenshot 2017-06-28 at 9.34.31 AM.png

Vocabulary:
Parallel, quadrilateral, diagonal, 90o, angle, bisect, right angles, arrows, parallelogram, opposite, specialised & polygon.

For this weeks learning we did maths based on Matariki. We had to use the 7 stars of Matariki to draw a rhombus. A rhombus has:
  • Opposite sides are parallel
  • It is a quadrilateral
  • When diagonal lines bisect each other they form a 90o angle

This was a fun and easy. I have a perfect understanding of a rhombus. I hope to do this again. Next I will like to learn about more in geometry.

Best qualities in my whanau

Whanau (family) and visiting new places all time are amazing but their are only two people I look up to and one place I always love to go to. I have looked up to these two people every since I opened my eyes.

The first person is my oldest brother Tevita. His qualities that he has, have always inspired me to be like him one day. The best qualities that have always inspired me to be like him was his kindness towards others, his cooking skills and his sportsmanship. These qualities has helped him in life to succeed.

The second person is my other brother Kaufana. He is a very good influence
To and learnt from my older brother Tevita. Kaufana has always been one of the people I have always looked up to and one the reasons why are his qualities. He is always caring for others, kind to others, humble and has good sportsmanship. He has learnt from the best my oldest brother.

My favourite place to go to is the Mt Smart Stadium. It has a lot of memories that me and my family have spent while watching the Warriors play. It is also one of my families and I’s favourite place to go because we like watching rugby live in real life.

These three special things are important to me because one day I would like to be them or would like to go there someday. I look up to my two brothers and they are great role models to me.

Volume and capacity

Screenshot 2017-06-20 at 9.27.17 AM.png

For today's lesson we completed online games about volume and capacity. I understand but I can't figure out the answer quickly I need more time. The number two game has helped me increase my knowledge about volume and capacity.

I found the game number one easy to do because you had to count how many squares would the 3D shape hold. It was still a fun game to play and I hope to play it again.

The last site I went on was not really a game. It did not give problems to solve. The only thing you could do was adjust the size of the 3D shape and move the 3D shape around. It was quite boring.

Walht: create a box to fit 100 sugar cubes

Today for maths we created a box to fit 100 sugar cubes. I made a box with a lid and my partner Heather made a box without a lid. We used plastic cubes as our sugar cubes. Some others struggled a bit because they did not finish their planing the day before. Me and my partner found this easy to do and fun to make. I hope to do it again.

Measureing and naming angle

collage.jpg

For the past few days we have been learning about angles in maths. We had tape on my desk and the people in my group had to help find the angles using the protractor. Then we wrote the measurement on the desk. After that we had to name the angles and memorize them. This was fun and I hope to do it again.
