Puns
For the past few days we have been learning about puns. For our art we had to draw our pun on paper. My pun is "I finally achieved world peas."I learnt that puns are a play of words. Our teacher brain washed us. She got a plastic bowl, water and she washed the sponge brain. I also did a pun. I had fun drawing my pun and I hope to do it again.

Matific
For today's maths we played matific. It is a maths game we play and competition started today. Today I already earned my one thousand points from playing more than three activities. I got five stars in each activity. This game helps me consolidate on other things I have learnt so that I can never forget it. This is a really fun game to play.

Newspaper Art
For our art we did newspaper art. We had to sketch a sports person on a newspaper and then paint it with yellow or whit paint. After that we waited for the paint to dry and then we did another coat on top of it. After that I used white paint and painted on top of the yellow to give it a shinny effect. Next I out lined it with black paint and added the details. I really enjoyed doing this art and I hoped to do it again.

Mr Hendrick's challenge
Last week Friday Mr Hendricks came outside to lift up any child with his thumb. He had a plan on what he was going to do. He got whatever he found and made a lever. When the child stood on the wood he pushed it down using his thumb. After the child's turn he challenged two people to stand on the wood and he lifted them up.

Simple Machine Toy
For the past few days our class has been busy making simple machines. The only two simple machines we could use to make our project was a pulley and a wheel and axle. We had to make our own version of a pulley and a wheel and axle. To make my simple machine I used paper, cardboard and toothpicks. I did not have an idea of how to make my simple machine but then I saw a image on google similar to my one but they did not use paper.

Integers puzzles
For today's maths I consolidated the vocab of integers. It took me a lot of thinking for the first activity because there were new words that I learnt and I was not familiar with them. Activity two on the right was quite easy but I did not finish it in less than three minutes.

Reading activities
I chose these two activities because it helped learn about new things and they also connected to my goals. Skimming and scamming is apart of my goals and I had to skim and scan to find information. On activity one I learnt new ways of getting rid of pests and weeds without harming the plants and others. For activity two I also learnt new things. I learnt by research the consequences of using toxic chemicals to control weeds and pests.

E Te Ariki
Every Tuesday Ms Maud comes into our class to teach Maori. For todays Te Reo we learnt a new Maori song from a hinene called E Te Ariki. For a start we read the lyrics step by step. Then Ms Maud played the guitar and we all sang along. It was fun learning a brand new Maori song. I hope that next time we will learn another brand new song.

Boys helping
Today the boys in room 8 helped Mr Hendricks carry huge logs to mark the volleyball court. They had to help carry the logs because we need to practice playing volleyball for sports camp and because we love playing volleyball. Ten boys had to carry one huge log to the senior side. They managed to carry five logs before the bell rang for morning tea.

Rounding off decimals
For the past few days I have been learning how to round off decimals. For this morning's maths I played a decimal game to consolidate my knowledge on rounding off decimals. To get the answer correct I looked at the number after the point. If the number was more than five I added one more number if it was less than five I kept it the same. I found this game easy to play and to pass each question.

Football skills
This morning Steve taught us some skills on moving with the ball. For football there are skills that are required. The skills that Steve taught use were:
- How to dribble the ball.
- How to kick/pass using the inside of our foot.
- How to kick/pass using the outside of our foot.
- How to kick/pass with the lace on our shoe.
- How to stop the ball using the bottom/sole of our foot.
- How to defend the ball by putting our bodies in front of the ball.
I think I did well because I used all the skills that Steve taught. I learnt the skills quickly and I did not kick the ball using my toe. I kept the ball close to me so no could take it. I never lost control of the ball when I first received it but they weren’t perfect.
Soccer reminds me of basketball. They are similar. You dribble ball in both sport. You can pass the ball. The only difference is that in soccer to score a goal you kick the ball but in basketball you have to shoot the ball in the hoop.
